La storia e l' ubicazione del castello / Location and History
Il paese medievale di Roccalvecce, deliziosamente conservato, domina una delle colline che caratterizzano lo splendido panorama della zona compresa tra Viterbo ed Orvieto, il lago di Bolsena ed il Tevere. Al centro del paese si erge il Castello Costaguti, su fondamenta medievali del 1300, ristrutturato e completato nel 1700 ed oggi accuratamente restaurato nel rispetto della tradizione della Famiglia Costaguti, che lo possiede da diversi secoli. Il Castello affaccia sulla bella piazza del paese, quasi una sala essa stessa, su cui si apre la facciata settecentesca della Chiesa, una volta di pertinenza del Castello ed oggi Chiesa Parrocchiale.
The medieval village of Roccalvecce, which is
delightfully preserved, dominates one of the hills of the caracteristically
splendid panoramic zones of the area between Viterbo and Orvieto, Lake
Bolsena and the Tiber
The Costaguti Castle is situated at the centre of the village on the
1300’s foundation. The Castle was reconstructed and completed in
1700 and today it has been restored in the traditions of the Costaguti
family which has owned the Castle for several centuries.
The Castle faces the beautiful square of the village, almost a salon
in itself, which opens onto the 18th century facade of the town Church,
once part of the castle and now the parish Church.
